The Nickelodeon 2012 Kids' Choice Awards Delivers Great Ratings For Nickelodeon UK

Nickelodeon UK lands on top

Orange blimps, special celebrity appearances and a whole lot of slime saw Nickelodeon UK emerge as the #1 kids' channel during the premiere broadcast of the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards and pre-show from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Sunday 1st April. The Awards were the #1 rated show across all kids' channels on Sunday reaching 248,000 kids (394,000 all viewers) and beating the premiere audience for the 2011 KCAs by 18%. During its broadcast, the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards saw Nickelodeon UK rank as the #2 channel overall (behind only Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince on ITV).*

Hosted by international superstar and 10-time KCA winner Will Smith, the Nickelodeon's 2012 Kids' Choice Awards were broadcast from the Galen Center at USC in Los Angeles where kids' top choices in television, movies, music and sports were revealed. The largest ever Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards saw several special appearances on stage including First Lady Michelle Obama, Katy Perry, and Justin Bieber as well as UK pop sensation One Direction who were awarded with accolades for Best UK Band and Best UK Newcomer.

The Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is seen in over 300 million households around the world. Within hours of airing live in the United States and Canada, the show will roll out in additional international markets, providing kids around the world the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy the show faster than ever. Voting for the 2012 KCAs spanned over six continents across 13 localized voting sites in 11 different languages, giving kids practically everywhere the chance to decide who takes home a coveted blimp. Over 220 million votes were registered worldwide including almost two million UK votes cast for the Nickelodeon UK-specific categories. Encore broadcasts of the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards will air on Wednesday, 4th April at 7:30 p.m., Friday, 6th April at 6 p.m. and Saturday, 7th April at 8 p.m.
